Why isn't the soap purple mum? You should just make it purple! That was the comment from my 12 year old son last night as I was happily making some Lavender scented soap.
I had just received some mineral pigment and couldn't wait to try making soap with a "real colour"! As I was busily stirring my pigment into the soap mix I thought that I must be doing something wrong! My creamy looking soap mix turned a muddy colour and kept getting muddier the more pigment I added. Well...I added my Lavender Essential Oil, hoping that even if it didn't look lavender then it would at least smell like Lavender! I then used an empty Pringles packet and used the Funnel Pour method to alternate between plain creamy soap mix and my "muddy' nondescript pigmented mix. Well I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I had a peek at my soap and saw...to my absolute delight that my soap was a lovely shade of white and mauve! I showed my son and he just did the "boy grunt" and said, "It would look better if it was all purple. You know...like normal purple soap that smells like Lavender...and make it square like a normal bar of soap. What were you thinking mum?!" Well so much for trying to be creative! How do your children rate your soap making efforts? I would love to hear some of your stories! Until next time :) I will post some pics when I un-mould...can't wait! http://eepurl.com/bmTubr
