Clear Glycerin Soap-Melt and Pour soap

Have you ever wanted to make a beautiful, clear soap that is glycerin rich and is so transparent that you could read through it? Well here is a recipe for you. This is not my recipe, so I can't take any credit for it! There is also a YouTube tutorial to go with this recipe which I will post here for you. My suggestion is the use these video tutorials as a guide when learning this technique as this soaper uses Palm Oil and detergents in her clear soap recipes. I choose to not use these products, however, these videos are helpful to learn from.

I hope that you enjoy learning about making clear glycerin soap!

Note: The original recipe was in ounces so I have added the measurements in grams for all of us metric users!

  • Please note that this recipe used Palm Oil (which I will not use due to ethical reasons), it is up to you if you choose this oil. I would increase my coconut oil ratio or choose another oil with similar characteristics to Palm Oil such as cocoa butter or shea butter. Olive oil makes a very hard bar after a long cure.

Safety: Always remember safety when you are making soap!! Eye protection, gloves, feet covered, no pets and small children around your working space and good ventilation!!

Will Need:

  • 5oz/ 142g  Distilled Water (for Lye)
  • 2.6oz/ 74g Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)
  • 5oz/ 142g Castor Oil
  • 6oz / 170g Coconut Oil
  • 6oz/ 170g  Palm Oil
  • 9oz/255g  Propylene Glycol
  • 3oz/85g Glycerin
  • 3oz/85g  Sugar dissolved into 3oz/85g  Distilled Water

I would suggest you watch these videos to gain the skills and for the method. I would not use the Palm Oil or the detergent as show in these videos.
I would not use the detergent as in this demonstration. Use the videos for learning and then experiment without using detergents and Palm Oil.
