Good Vibes Omega Facial Oil

If you have read any of my previous reviews, then you would know that I am a big fan of Rosehip Oil. I only write about products that I use and truly believe are healthy and work, or have good scientific research behind their claims. Recently, I tried Good Vibes Omega Facial Oil and I have to say that I love it! I don't think that I have ever found a product that leaves my skin feeling so soft and velvety smooth immediately!

And... it is 100% natural and organic!
Vegan friendly
Australian Made and Owned!
Not Tested on Animals
Good Vibes Omega Facial Oil ticks all the right boxes and works!

Not only does this oil make my skin feel amazing it leaves no oily residue at all.

This oil contains an amazing combination of oils rich in Omega Fatty acids: 3,5,6, 7 and 9.
Hemp (Cannabis Sativa) Seed Oil*, Camellia Tea (Camellia Oleifera) Seed Oil*, Argan (Argania Spinosa) Kernel Oil*, Seabuckthorn (Hippophae Rhamnoides) Oil*, Chia (Salvia Hispanica) Seed Oil, Watermelon (citrullus vulgaris) Seed Oil, Pomegranate (Punica Granatum) Seed Oil*, Acai (euterpe oleracea) Oil, Elderberry (Sambucus Nigra) Fruit Extract, Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) Extract, Agonis Fragrans Leaf Oil, Cypress Australian Blue (Callitris Intratropica Wood) Oil, Sandalwood (Santalum spicatum) Oil, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract.1

Omega Oils Used Topically in Skin Care
Most of us know that Omega Essential fatty acids are vital for our health and must be consumed as part of a balanced diet. Less well known is the importance of a correct balance of Omegas in skin care. For skin care you need a balance of the Omega 9 Oils (Oleic Acid) and Omega 3 & 6 oils (linoleic acid). Optimal ratios for normal skin of Omega 3.6.9.7 are 1:1:1.5 and 0.5 respectively.  As Omega 9 is more protective in dry and mature skin this ratio is changed to 1:2:1:0.5 respectively. Using natural, cold-pressed and organic oils, such as in Good Vibes Omega Facial Oil, which contains natural lipids and high levels of key fatty acids, helps to maintain healthy skin condition and combat inflammatory skin disorders. This balance also helps with firmness, elasticity, skin smoothness; reduction in wrinkle depth and UV irritated redness.2

Let's take a closer look at some of the ingredients in Good Vibes Omega Facial Oil
Omega 6 and Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids

Omega-6 (n-6) and omega-3 (n-3) essential fatty acids (EFAs) are crucial to skin function and appearance. Both dietary and topical supplementation with EFAs can have profound effects on the fatty acid composition and eicosanoid milieu of the skin.3  Eicosanoids play an integral part in homeostatic mechanisms related to skin health and structural integrity. They also mediate inflammatory events developed in response to environmental factors, such as exposure to ultraviolet radiation, and inflammatory and allergic disorders, including psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.4  In short, they are not only good for your skin...they are essential for skin health!

Hemp Seed Oil

"Hemp seed oil is [high in Omega 3 and Omega 6 Essential fatty acids] and is rich in Vitamins A, C and E...and because of the high amount of PUFA (polyunsaturated Fatty Acids) and the presence of y-linoleic acid, hemp seed oil is ideal as an ingredient in light body oils and lipid enriched creams known for their ability to penetrate the skin". (Anwar et.al. JAOCS, Vol. 83, no. 4, 2006.)5 Hemp Seed Oil is the first ingredient in Good Vibes Omega Facial Oil and so this oil delivers a powerful dose of Omega 3 and 6 oil to your skin.

Camellia Tea Oil
Camellia oil has many therapeutic properties. It is an emollient moisturiser and antioxidant.6  It also promotes the recovery of wounds and protects the skin from free radical damage. In addition to being an antioxidant, it is also anti-microbial and is especially notable for its anti-fungal properties. Camellia Tea oil quickly emulsifies into other fats which makes it a very useful and healthy additive to many cosmetic anti-aging products. Finally, Camellia Tea oil is anti-inflammatory and reduces inflammation on the skin when applied topically.7 Camellia Tea oil is the second ingredient in Good Vibes Omega Facial oil and offers superior antioxidant and microbial protection for your skin.

The first two ingredients speak for themselves...No wonder I love this oil!

Omega 7 and Omega 9 Essential Fatty Acids
Seabuckthorn Oil
The unique high fatty acid content of sea buckthorn oil and the wealth of nutrients it contains make it one of the most health-promoting herbal oils today. It’s believed to have high antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral properties that help promote total body wellness.8

Sea buckthorn berries contain fatty acids of virtually all the important series, omega-3, -6, -7 and -9 and is exceptionally rich in palmitoleic acid (omega-7), rarely found in the plant kingdom. The oil is also rich in natural antioxidants; tocopherois, tocotrienols, carotenoids and plant sterols. Those who may benefit from Omega 7 Sea Buckthorn include: Post menopausal women with associated dryness problems (Omega-7 is the first oral preparation to help relieve the discomfort of vaginal dryness (as opposed to existing topical applications), people with dry skin (eczema and dermatitis), people with dry eyes and mouth conditions (may also benefit contact lens wearers) and people who want to ensure a balanced intake of essential fatty acids. Numerous studies show that Sea Buckthorn oil may help maintain the health and integrity of cell membranes especially in mucous membranes and skin. (cited by Tregoning,M.)

One of the many benefits of Seabuckthorn oil is an unusual concentration of the essential omega-7 fatty acid.   It is the best source of Omega-7 and the richest plant source in the world for this rare EFA. Omega-7 is also behind the plant’s famous ability to rejuvenate the skin and promote healthy healing after damage. It is a powerful source of nourishment for the skin’s collagen, strengthening existing skin and repairing injuries.9

Seabuckthorn is a rich source of vitamins C, A, and E, beta-carotene, minerals, amino acids, and fatty acids.  When applied topically to the skin it helps to prevent sunburn; it is used for treating radiation damage from x-rays and sunburns; for healing wounds including bedsores, burns, and cuts; for acne, dermatitis, dry skin, eczema, skin ulcers, and skin color changes after giving birth; and for protecting mucus membranes.10

Chia Seed Oil
Chia Seed Oil is rich in Omega 3, 6 and 9. You can see that the inclusion of Chia Seed Oil is another plus for this facial oil...Chia contains three of the most important Essential Fatty acids for skin health in one tiny little seed. It contains the perfect ration 3-to-1 balance of Omega 3 to Omega 6 essential fatty acids for optimal skin nourishment. It has an unusually high concentration of phyto-nutrients and antioxidants and is a powerful source of Alpha Lipoic acid which helps to minimise fine lines and enlarged pores. Alpha Lipoic acid encourages healthy cellular function and skin renewal. Like all the essential fatty acids it reduces trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) and aids in the healing of damaged skin by restoring the natural skin barrier function.

My one reservation with this product is the price. It is a little on the pricey side at $38.50 AUD for 30ml. However, it only takes about 3 drops to do your entire face, so in this respect it should work out to be quite economical if used correctly. And when I think of the price people pay for some of their skin care products...well Good Vibes Omega Facial Oil is excellent value for money!

Final Words

I now use Good Vibes Omega Facial Oil under my Rosehip oil and I am more than happy with the effects and feel on my skin.
I believe that I have found a winning combination of oils and will stick to it!
